Status conference next week on Mathews residents arrested at U.S. Capitol

A status conference for two Mathews residents arrested during the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, Doug Sweet and Cindy Fitchett will be held next week in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
The hearing had been rescheduled from March 19 to Tuesday, March 30.
Fitchett has agreed to a stipulation regarding digital media evidence found on her cell phone. A filing on the case dated March 18 stated that government agents had seized a Samsung cell phone from Fitchett and was still conducting a search of it and imaging the digital media.
Materials discovered on the phone, which contained 1,218 files and “one additional mp4 … created 2:25:17 on Jan. 6” will be used as evidence in the ongoing investigation and prosecution, according to the filing. In addition, the materials could be introduced into evidence at trial or other proceedings.
