Three Gloucester Dukes wrestlers competed in the Class 5 state wrestling tournament on Saturday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center. All three came away with podium finishes to cap off a unique year of wrestling.
Gloucester High School junior Ethan Baker led the way for the Dukes as the 152 lbs. state runner-up, losing a tough match in the finals by a score of 5-3 to Colin Bridges of Cox. Baker’s only two losses this season come from his finals matches against Bridges at the Class 5A regional meet and the Class 5 state finals. Baker finishes the year with an overall record of 11-2 and an improvement from last year as the fourth-place finisher.
