Members of the Mathews High School band led MHS track and field and girls’ tennis athletes through the school on Thursday afternoon as the teams headed to their state tournaments, and also paid tribute to the school’s rowing team, who had participated in the state and Stotesbury crew regattas. The send-off brought the teams some good luck, as members of the boys’ track team earned gold and silver medals and the girls’ tennis team won its state quarterfinal match with Buffalo Gap, 5-4.
