Speed Enforcement Trailer

The Mathews County Sheriff’s Office has purchased a Kustom Signals Speed Enforcement Trailer, a solar-powered device that will be placed in areas of the county where speeding is believed to be a problem. The trailer will know the speed limit, is equipped with lights to warn violators, and has a computer that records the dates, times and speeds of vehicles for statistical purposes so deputies can be mobilized to problem areas of the county at peak times of the day, said a press release. Shown with the trailer are Deputy Jimbo Croxton and Major April Edwards, from left. Edwards applied for and obtained an American Rescue Plan Act grant for $139,000 to go toward the purchase of two new patrol vehicles and an array of police equipment, including the trailer.
