Mathews County Board of Supervisors’ chair Janice Phillips has called a special meeting to hold a closed session at 4 o’clock today, Thursday, Oct. 17, in the historic courthouse on Court Street. It will precede the regular monthly meeting, which will be held at 6 o’clock.
During the closed meeting, the board will again consult with legal counsel and receive briefings by staff members on current litigation with Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill, discussing suits titled “July 12, 2023 Decision of the Mathews Board of Zoning Appeals” (which was a decision made by the BZA on matters regarding the restaurant) and “Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill v. Board of Supervisors of Mathews County, David S. Jones, and Michael S. Walls.”
The board will also consult with the county attorney to receive legal advice on 384 Old Ferry Road, which is the address of the county-owned building rented by Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill, as well as on a proposed memorandum of understanding with the Mathews C...
