Mathews County Board of Supervisors’ chair Janice Phillips has scheduled a special meeting to hold a closed session at 4 o’clock today, Thursday, Sept. 19, in the historic courthouse on Court Street. The board will then hold its regular meeting, which includes a public hearing, at 6 p.m. in the same location.
Discussions during the closed meeting will involve a specific matter requiring legal advice regarding 384 Old Ferry Road, the county-owned property on Gwynn’s Island that is leased to Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill. The board will also consult with legal counsel and have briefings by staff members pertaining to actual litigation on two cases involving the restaurant—the July 12, 2023 Decision of the Mathews County Board of Zoning Appeals–CL23000196, and Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill LLC v. Board of Supervisors of Mathews County, et al–CL2300-282-003.
