Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc., hosted a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Sunday at Station 2 in Bena for AVFR Capt. David Thurston, who is battling Stage 4 lung cancer. The event drew a big turnout, the community coming out in force to support the man who has helped them on countless emergency calls over the years.
