Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will present its annual Smith Family and Friends Christmas Show on Saturday night at Mathews High School’s Harry M. Ward Auditorium. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8.
The house band, Shades of Country, along with all of the Opry singers will present some country and traditional Christmas selections for the first half of the show.
After a brief intermission, the stage will transform into Mrs. Turner’s orphanage, where the kids are trying very hard to get into the Christmas spirit and Charlie brings them a special surprise. In the end, they all remind us what Christmas is really about, a release stated.
Children ranging in age from 4 to 17 will sing familiar Christmas tunes, like Here Comes Santa Claus and Rudolph, plus some newer tunes like Jingle Bell Rock and When Christmas Comes to Town.
As in years past, the show will end with the reading of the Christmas story from the Bible and the family singing Christmas songs and hymns, such as O Holy Ni...
