Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will present its annual Smith Family and Friends Christmas Show on Saturday night in the Mathews High School’s Harry M. Ward Auditorium. Doors open at 7 and the show begins at 7:30.
The public is invited to join the Smith family and their musical friends, including house band Shades of County, to kick off the holiday season. The performers will offer a mix of country and traditional Christmas selections.
County songs like “Christmas in Dixie” will be mixed with traditional secular songs like “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” and “Blue Christmas,” as well as religious songs like “O Holy Night,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain” and “Noel,” sung by Tracy Hill. The children will be on hand to sing a few favorites as well.
As always, the show will end with the reading of the Christmas story from the Bible with members of the Smith and Donk’s family singing special Christmas hymns.
