Smith appointed to Bay Aging board

Sieglende “Lynda” Smith of Mathews was appointed by the Mathews County Board of Supervisors to a five-year term representing the county on the Bay Aging Board of Directors.
Smith’s appointment was approved unanimously at the county board’s Sept. 3 meeting.
In other action, the supervisors recognized five county employees for reaching milestones in their careers. Receiving certificates were Christy Jarvis for 25 years’ service with the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office; Byron Vanzile for 15 years’ service with the sheriff’s office; Sharon South for 10 years’ service (post retirement) with the Commonwealth Attorney’s office; James Croxton for five years’ service (post retirement) with the sheriff’s office and Robyn Beasley for five years’ service with the Mathews Registrar’s office.
The recognized employees were not present at the board meeting; they will be presented their certificates by their supervisors, board chairman Amy Dubois said.
