Gloucester High School will induct six new members to its Athletic Hall of Fame Friday night. The new inductees are Christi Lewis, Douglas Northstein, Dr. Harold Jones III, Jamie Wilson, Norma Jean Kerns Edwards and Wendall L. Johnston Jr.
A reception for the former athletes will be held at 5:15 p.m. in the Duke Rock Café at the school and the induction ceremony will be held during halftime of the GHS versus Bethel football game at GHS.
A tennis player, Lewis played on the GHS boys’ team as a freshman and advocated for the first girls’ team, formed the following year. She won the York River District singles and doubles titles her senior year and placed fourth in state doubles competition. She also won the Senior Athletic Award and the Most Valuable Player title.
Lewis was also a field hockey standout while the Lady Dukes were winning district and regional championships. She graduated magna cum laude from Longwood College and has served as director of Gloucest...
