Pickleball player Rick Shutt of Hayes, and partner Pat Russo of Toano, took second place in Sunday’s PPA North Carolina Open pickleball tournament. More than 925 players, including many professionals, competed in this nationally known tournament in Charlotte, N.C. The professional finals were aired on ESPN2 as the popularity of pickleball continues to surge. Shutt and Russo played in the 70+ 3.5/4.0 bracket and are shown here with their silver medals.
