‘Silent Siege’ author to speak at Mathews Yacht Club

Local author William E. ”Bill” Johnson will give a talk about his books at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Mathews Yacht Club at Hudgins. The public is invited to attend.
Johnson’s debut novel, “A Silent Tide,” won the 2014 National Indie Excellence Award for best legal drama in the country. His latest work, the international political thriller “A Silent Siege,” brings today’s headlines to Mathews County, said a press release.
In “A Silent Siege,” ISIS terrorists seize control of Mathews and threaten to kill students held hostage at the high school unless former President George Bush agrees to travel to the county and stand trial for war crimes committed in the 2003 Iraq invasion. The novel involves a visit to Mathews by President Bush, a hurricane, and a citizen uprising by local residents who are determined to take back their county.
Johnson also penned the novella “Tiffany’s Tale,” the non-fiction work, “A School in Pennsylvania,” and the Chesapeake Bay Writers Conference award...
