National Collection Week for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes is Nov. 18-25.
“This is the time when we collect shoeboxes that have been filled with gifts for children in need around the world,” said Amy Ashberry, who heads up Operation Christmas Child collections in Mathews.
“We encourage everyone to pack a shoebox filled with toys, school supplies, and fun items for a child,” she said. “You can use any shoebox. The boxes are delivered to children in over 100 countries across the world through Samaritan’s Purse.”
The Shoebox Mobile will be stationed at Mathews Baptist Church (8284 Buckley Hall Road, Hudgins) from 4-6 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday; 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20; 1-3 p.m. next Thursday, Nov. 21; 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23; and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24 and Monday, Nov. 25.
Individuals and church groups are encouraged to stop by during those hours to drop off packed boxes. Shoeboxes will be available if anyo...
