Shirley B. Carter of Gloucester, passed away on Oct. 29, 2020. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 24, 1942 to the late Willie R. Carter and Laura Mae Banks.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Vanessa Carter, Paulette Carter, Denise Carter and son, Dennis Carter Sr. (Kidist); sister, Joyce Washington; brothers, Barry Allen, Lee Carter and Daryl Carter; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Shirley was a faithful member of Smithfield Baptist Church. Shirley’s laughter and seeing her digging in the yard to plant flowers will be truly missed by her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Smithfield Baptist Church, known now as Church of Abraham, on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at 1 p.m.

Visitation will be on Friday at Howard Funeral Home, Ark, from 6-8 p.m.
