Sheddie H. Armistead, 73, of Mathews, Va., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014.

He was a native of Mathews County, and worked side by side on the water with his father until his death in 1993. He was always so proud to have worked on the water with his father and grandfather. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Armistead, and his mother, Lois Palmer.

He is survived by his sisters, Patricia A. West (Lawrence) of Mathews, and Bettye Johnson of Hampton. He is also survived by his nieces, Jennifer Hancock (Andy), Tammy VanWart (Ken), and Sabrina Davis (Bobby), along with several great-nieces and -nephews.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Horn Harbor Cemetery, Peary, Va., officiated by Dr. Ralph Satter. A visitation and reception followed the service at Bethel United Methodist Church.
