Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church will offer a seven-session grief course, “Recovering from Losses in Life,” starting at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7. The courses will continue on Sundays through Nov. 18.
The Rev. Dr. Ed Jordan, pastor, said, “All of us experience losses in life. Grief is a process through which we can adjust to our loss. If we work through the process, we can begin slowly to move on. If we do not grieve well, or deny our grief, it eats us alive.”
Losses can include the loss of a loved one, loss of a part of our body, loss of mobility, loss of income, loss of identity, loss through divorce, loss of support system, loss of employment, loss of health, loss of mental functioning, loss of physical functioning, and more, Jordan said. “Often the winter holidays are when we feel the sadness of our losses the most,” he said.
