Service dog fundraiser to be held on June 15 at Brent & Becky’s Bulbs

Gone to the Dogs, a fundraiser for service dogs, still has tickets available for its inaugural dog walk, to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, at Brent & Becky’s Bulbs in Gloucester.
The local fundraiser will benefit the national organization Canine Companions, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides highly trained service dogs to disabled adults, children and veterans at no cost to the client. The event is being sponsored by NextHome Coast to Country Real Estate of Gloucester.
Charlene Winter of Next-Home, who has spearheaded the project, said she hopes to get a good turnout of people to bring their dogs and walk them, enjoy lunch from the Shore Bites food truck, view the flourishing gardens, and watch canine demonstrations.
Among the scheduled activities are talks by Navy veteran Tom Hoioos, president of the Old Dominion Chapter of Canine Companions; Hoioos’ wife Sharon and son Matt, and Matt’s service dog “Dacey”; and Patricia Coale and her service dog ...
