Last week, Allean “Beanie” Rowe and Abigail Henry, two members of the Thomas Hunter Middle School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapter, presented 35 Sensory Support Backpacks to Shannon Hodges of Middle Peninsula- Northern Neck Behavioral Health. The backpacks are to be distributed to the local hospitals to help children, teens and adults who are in crisis. Each pack is filled with items to support patients in times of severe anxiety, on the autism spectrum, suffering from stroke, dementia, Alzheimer’s, and mental health crisis. The girls will present the results of their community service project at the VA FCCLA Leadership and Recognition Conference in Virginia Beach in April.
