The Senate of Virginia announced on April 7 that it will hold its spring session later this month at the Science Museum of Virginia’s Dewey Gottwald Center in Richmond, which has 11,000 square feet to allow for social distancing,
Senate leaders opted against holding their session in the Senate chambers at the Capitol.
The session is set to begin on Wednesday, April 22. The Senate is to use the session to act on revisions Gov. Ralph Northam has proposed to legislation the General Assembly passed this winter and to vote on any vetoes by the governor.
Del. Eileen Filler-Corn (D-Fairfax), Virginia’s Speaker of the House, had previously indicated that she intends the House of Delegates to meet in person on April 22 at an as-yet-to-be-determined outdoor location.
