Self-taught landscape painter exhibiting at Arts on Main

An exhibit by self-taught artist Rodney Laughon of Lynchburg will open during First Friday at Arts on Main, from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, at the gallery on Main Street in Gloucester. It is free and open to the public. There will be a beer and wine cash bar and paninis for purchase.
Sponsored by Randy and Suzanne Scott, the exhibit features Laughon’s plein air and studio landscape paintings. According to a press release, Laughon’s painting techniques and style are the result of studying art in museums, galleries, and publications, along with countless hours of painting and experimentation. His style is firmly rooted in traditional American landscape painting, said the release, in the Romantic Realism of the Hudson River School.
