The Gloucester County School Board announced last week its process for selecting an interim candidate to fill one of the board’s at-large seats since the resignation of Kellie Lockerby, who held the position which was vacated Aug. 4.It also announced a special election that will take place this fall for a candidate to serve the remaining two years of the four-year term for the seat.
The school board will accept letters of interest and resumes from qualified candidates, who must be registered votes of Gloucester County. All materials must be submitted to Carol Dehoux, clerk of the school board, at 6099 T.C. Walker Road, Gloucester, Va., 23061 or by email at cdehoux@gc.k12.va.us by Friday, Aug. 18.
The board will hold a closed meeting at 6 p.m. the following Monday, Aug. 21, at the T.C. Walker Education Center. The board anticipates that the interim appointment will be made in open session the same day, following the closed meeting.
