The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation has announced the opening of applications for its Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience grants through March 5, with a total of $250,000 in funding available.
Eligible applicants include school divisions, nonprofit organizations, higher education institutions, state agencies, and soil and water conservation districts.
The projects, known as MWEEs, are intended to encourage K-12 students to think critically about Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay watershed and cultivate environmental literacy, a release said. They are learner-centered experiences, such as field investigations and action projects, which are aligned with grade-level standards and focus on local environmental issues.
Visit www.dcr.virginia.gov/environmental-education/funding-opportunities for the application and instructions. Applications are due via email no later than March 5 at 5 p.m.
