Twenty Botetourt Elementary School students each received a $200 Back to School Shopping Spree and backpacks full of school supplies from the YMCA Middle Peninsula’s “Bright Beginnings Program” and local community foundations. The students completed their shopping at Walmart on Aug. 23 with several volunteers, including representatives from Chesapeake Bank, Ferguson Enterprises, the YMCA, Gloucester School Board members Kellie Lockerby and Karen Espinoza, Botetourt staff members Erin Elmore and Alex Hickman, YMCA Program Director Leslie Bryant and Botetourt Community Engagement Coordinator Ashley Walker.
