Ellie Leighton Armistead of Mathews, is scheduled to graduate Friday from the University of Georgia with a bachelor of science degree in education in sports management. Armistead is finishing her final season as a member of the University of Georgia softball team.
Rachel Lynn Aharen Machie is scheduled to graduate from Virginia Tech with summa cum laude honors Friday during a ceremony at Lane Stadium. Machie will receive a bachelor of science in microbiology with a minor in chemistry. She is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Machie is the daughter of Denny and Harriet Machie of Hayes and the granddaughter of Murray and Betty Brown of Hayes, and the late Chester and Shizu Machie.
