School Briefs

Several representatives of Mathews County Public Schools took part in the VSBA 2022 Hybrid School Law Conference on June 3. The conference offered legal guidance on several important topics including, Dyslexia and Specialized Reading, Legal Strategies on How to Hold Public Meetings, Division Staff and the First Amendment, and an update on education legislation. School board members Linda Hodges, John Priest, Lorraine Forrest and Robert Dobson participated virtually, along with superintendent Nancy Welch and assistant superintendent Lesley Hunley.

Kyle Hasson of White Marsh, was named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Coastal Carolina University. Students who receive this honor have achieved a grade point average between 3.6-3.99 for the semester.

Daniel Hook of Gloucester, has been named to the President’s List at Virginia Tech for the spring 2022 semester, where he earned a grade point average of 4.0. He is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science.

Rebekah Scheidegger of Gloucester, was named to the dean’s honor list for the spring 2022 semester at Cedarville University. This recognition requires students to obtain a 3.75 grade point average or higher for the semester and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Veronica Trist of Gloucester, has been named to the spring 2022 dean’s list at Baldwin Wallace University. To receive this honor, students must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more graded hours during the semester.

Justin Whitt of Gloucester, was named to the president’s list at Shenandoah University for the spring 2022 semester. To receive this honor, students must complete at least 12 semester hours and earn a semester grade point average of 3.9 or higher.
