The Mathews County School Board will hold its second work session on its 2023-2024 budget at 4 o’clock Tuesday in the Mathews High School media center. The board held its initial work session prior to the Dec. 13, 2022 meeting.
A public hearing on the budget is scheduled for the following Tuesday, Jan. 24, also at 4 p.m. in the MHS media center. After receiving public comments, school board members will hold another work session on the budget.
A joint work session with county supervisors is set for Feb. 7, with the school board scheduled to adopt its budget at the Feb. 21 monthly meeting, at which point the budget will be in the hands of the Mathews County Board of Supervisors.
School board members are participating in a day-long retreat today in the John Warren Cooke Conference Room of the Mathews Memorial Library, facilitated virtually by Virginia School Boards Association staff.
