School board recognizes student achievement

The Gloucester County School Board recognized several students for their recent achievements during last Thursday night’s meeting held in the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium.
Madison Roady and Jackzel Quinones Pena were recognized as Gloucester High School’s Seniors of the Month.
Roady has taken a lead role in teaching career and technical education health science classes to the middle schools. She is currently enrolled in the nurse aide class and will be a certified nursing assistant by the time she graduates from GHS. Roady plans to attend nursing school at East Carolina University in the fall.
Quinones Pena, new to GHS this year, made the A/B honor roll for the first semester while completing several online classes to make sure he can graduate in June. He placed first in the region and fourth in the state for wrestling at 106 pounds. Quinones Pena contributed to the wrestling team placing third overall in the state.
