The Mathews County School Board named Richardson’s Café to the 2025 Virginia School Boards Association Business Honor Roll in recognition of the support that the business has provided to the county’s public schools over the years.The resolution was approved at Tuesday’s school board’s meeting in the Brooks Auditorium at Thomas Hunter Middle School.
“Time and again, Richardson’s Café has provided lunch for us at daylong meetings and a joint meeting that we had with the board of supervisors as well at no cost and it’s just beyond gracious and most appreciated,” school board vice chair Linda Hodges said.
During public comment, county supervisor Tom Bowen and Gwynn’s Island Civic League Foundation chair John Mathiesen added their praise for the Mathews restaurant and the support it shows to the community.
