Tuesday night’s Gloucester County School Board meeting was suddenly stalled after one to four apparently armed individuals were observed at the meeting. The meeting was held in the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium.
Based on input from law enforcement, acting superintendent Bryan Hartley and school board chair Troy Andersen were advised to not allow any individuals to leave the building until further notice.
Before any observations of appearance of weapons were made, Andersen said he recognized one of the individuals when they entered the meeting, but did not recognize the other three. He believed that these three individuals arrived late for the school board’s business honor roll recognition, but that was not the case.
Board vice chair Kellie Lockerby said she observed a group of men enter the meeting after it had started. She recognized one of the men from the group because he spoke at last month’s meeting. The men sat apart from each other.
