Salem Community Church, Gloucester, recognized Maggie Haynes and Alyssa Smith, the recipients of $2,950 in Philip Cary and Grace Walton Lawson Memorial Endowment scholarships at Sunday’s service. Haynes, at left, has completed her first year at Virginia Wesleyan University and will be going into her sophomore year majoring in Biology and minoring in Marine Biology with intent to continue with study towards a Master’s degree in Marine Biology. Smith, at right, has completed four years at James Madison University graduating with her Bachelor of Arts degree in General Psychology and will continue this year at the University of Lynchburg for a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
