During its Dec. 12 meeting, the Mathews County School Board said farewell to two of its members who are stepping down at the end of the year. Superintendent of Schools Dr. David S. Daniel is shown presenting commemorative plaques to John Priest (top photo) and Desmond Smith (bottom photo). Priest served on the board for eight years, while Smith was on the board for the last four. New school board members Mary Kathryn Diggs and Calvin Morgan will fill the two seats beginning in January.
