Sarah Taylor wins high jump at regionals

The Mathews High School indoor track and field team competed in the 1A/2A East regional championships in Hampton on Feb 15. The team made a good showing, with senior Sarah Taylor winning the girls’ high jump in a personal best of 5’2”.
She also placed third in the 55m hurdles. Her brother, sophomore Keith Taylor, placed third in the long jump with a personal best of 19’11.25”. The boys’ 4x800 relay team placed third.
Both Sarah and Keith will compete in the indoor state championships next week at Liberty University. Sarah will compete in the high jump and hurdles and Keith will compete in the 500m, high jump and long jump. The boys’ 4x800 relay team will also compete.
Others finishers were Nora Suthard, who placed seventh in the 300m and high jump, Melody Smith placed fourth in the 3200m, Anna Raub took eighth in 1000m and the 4X800 team finished fourth. For the boys, Noah Hurst placed eighth in the 3200m, Gavin Dustin placed seventh in the 3200, Seth James placed fourth in the 1600m. ...
