Sandra Fitchette Godsey of Hampton, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 after a long, courageous battle with Covid. Born on October 29, 1945, she was raised on Gwynn’s Island. Sandra graduated from Mathews High School in 1963 where she was a member of multiple clubs. She went on to Smithdeal Massey Business College. Upon completion, she became a Clerk Stenographer for the U.S. Continental Army Command.

Sandra resided in Hampton Roads for 57 years where she had been a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, cooking, playing cards with friends, family game nights, giraffes, the beach and music (Elvis).

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Godsey, and her parents, George and Mary Parke Fitchette.

Sandra is survived by her children, James Jr. (Laurie), Beth, and Tina; grandchildren, Jacob, Nicole, Zachary, and Casey, and great-grandchildren, Elaine, Timothy, and Nova.
