Sally Reed Demuth of Gloucester, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer.
Sally was extremely grateful for the support that she received from her family and friends.
Born in Schenectady, N.Y., she grew up in Kentucky. After serving in the USAF for eight years, Sally received her undergraduate degree in education from Christopher Newport College (University). Sally began teaching sixth grade for GCPS. After receiving a Master of Science in Education from Longwood University, Sally continued to work for Page Middle School as a teacher librarian.
Sally was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 21 years and served as an elder.
Sally is survived by her parents, Fred and Jinny Reed; her husband, David Demuth; grown children, Sonja Demuth and Derek Demuth; brother, Richard Reed of Hoover, Ala., and sisters, Anne Zara, Patty Howard of Jackson, Ky., and Rebecca Reed of Silver Spring, Md.
A public celebration of her life memorial service was held at First Presbyterian Church located at 6470 Main Street in Gloucester on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at 3 p.m.
