Salem Community Church celebrates anniversary of name change

Salem Community Church, Gloucester, will celebrate Sunday the one-year anniversary since its name change. The church will celebrate over 200 years of serving the community, of serving the shared faith in Christ, of following the mission to love God, and to love one another, a release said.
The church has had several names but the “community” remains the same; carrying the courage of commitment and the same faithful spirit held by their forebears. It’s been a year since Salem put the name “community” on its sign, and today Salem Community Church reflects that same courage, that same commitment, that same faith that their ancestors had when they first gathered in 1789.
The church will celebrate with community. There will be live entertainment from Rappahannock Crossings band and others, as well as bounce houses, hot dogs, basement bingo, cornhole, picnic foods and worship. Worship will begin 11 a.m., with lunch following.
