Safe boating, marine electrical courses offered

The Northern Neck Sail and Power Squadron will be offering a pair of classes in the coming weeks at the NNSPS classroom, Chesapeake Commons, 453C North Main Street, Kilmarnock.
The squadron will hold a three-part Safe Boating Course from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 19, 21 and 26. The fee is $25. Register at seo@abcnnk.org or by calling Jim Lassiter at 804-339-7218. The course will cover the requirements for a Virginia Safe Boating Card plus boating in adverse conditions, handling medical emergencies, dealing with mechanical problems, towing, trailering and anchoring. Participants will get experience using a Boating Virtual Trainer, receive a free vessel safety check and on-the-water training session.
A nine-week course on Marine Electrical Systems will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Sept. 10. The fee is $95 for non-members, $65 for members. Register at seo@abcnnk.org or by calling Lassiter at 804-339-7218. The course will cover AC/DC power sources, load management, diagnosis, ...
