Safe boating class to be held in Mathews

U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Mathews Flotilla 66 will conduct a Boating Safety Class beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, Hudgins.
The course, titled “Boat Virginia: A course in responsible Boating,” is free of charge and is sponsored by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, said a press release.
Students who pass the course will receive their lifetime Boating Education Certificate, which satisfies the state requirement that all operators of personal watercraft and motor boats of 10 horsepower or greater pass an approved boating safety education course.
