Saenz named Bay School’s Artist of Month

Jorge Saenz is the featured Artist of the Month for November at the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews. He has five large paintings on display, along with 11 pieces in the 100 x 100 Show.
A San Francisco native, Saenz was exposed to art and culture at a young age and fell in love with painting in his early childhood, said a press release. Later, after studying architecture and fine art, he committed to his artwork full-time, enhancing and refining his unique methodology in Virginia Beach.
Saenz has carved his own niche in the abstract realm, said the release, drawing inspiration from prolific artists such as De Kooning, Rothko, and Frankenthaler. He uses multiple layers of shapes, patterns, and color fluctuation, often completed with translucent drips and shapes he has spent years cultivating. His “unapologetic use of various mediums and contrasting color temperatures hint at his romantic approach to abstract art,” said the release.
