Ruth Smith Falkinburg, 88, of Gloucester Point, died Dec. 23, 2011 at Sanders Assisted Living.

She was retired civil service from Naval Weapons Station and a member of Union Baptist Church. Ruth’s was a life well lived; a daily celebration of the joys of family, friendships and faith. We were touched by her kindness, generosity and extraordinary spirit, and will be inspired by her memory forever.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Falkinburg; parents, Marion Lee and Nellie Blake Smith; brothers, Vernon Smith, Marion Smith and Marshall Smith.

She is survived by nieces, Camille Dec and husband Pete and Bobbette Yarman and husband Ralph; great-nephew, Brian M. Dec, and a host of friends.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rodney Autry and the Rev. Richard Whiteheart will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery. The family will greet friends Thursday prior to the service from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
