Ruritans donate bench to Museum

The Abingdon Ruritan Club donated a bench to the Gloucester Museum of History Tuesday morning. The benches are made by NexTrex, a company that has drop off locations across the country for plastic in order to keep thousands of pounds of waste out of landfills and waterways. The plastic collection is recycled and made into outdoor products.
The Abingdon Ruritan Club collects these plastics as a part of the NexTrex Recycling Challenge Program. When more than 1,000 pounds of soft-film plastic is gathered within a 12-month span, NexTrex donates a bench back to the collecting organization. The Abingdon Ruritan Club then donates these benches.
This is the seventh bench the Abingdon Ruritan Club has donated since they started the program in 2021.
Those who would like to donate plastics can leave them at the drop off location at the Food Lion in the Court House.
