The Mathews Rotary Club will hold its “Party with a Purpose” from 4-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 4 at Williams Wharf. The event features live music, food trucks, dessert bars as well as water, soda, beer and wine sales.
This year’s purpose is to rebuild the New Point Comfort Lighthouse Observation Pier—the only public access area in Mathews for residents and visitors to enjoy views of the Natural Preserve Area and New Point Comfort Lighthouse. The pier is more than 25 years old and needs new pilings, decking and handrails. Also, the club is adding a feature to make the pier fully accessible to those with physical disabilities.
Headlining this year’s event is Tidewater swing band Good Shot Judy. Tickets are limited due to the size of the venue and are available online.
To get a ticket, go to www.mathewsrotaryclub.org and click on the Party with a Purpose button. Tickets are $30, which includes one complimentary beverage. Tickets are available online only and will not be sold at the door....
