Ronnie Matt Copeland Sr., 74, of Hayes, Va., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, in Riverside Walter Reed Hospital just a few hours before his mother, Elizabeth G. Goad.

He was born in Tennessee, and was a member of Union Baptist Church. He was retired as a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Copeland, and is survived by his wife, Kathy Copeland; children, Beth Costine, Bonnie Strongman, Ronnie Copeland Jr.; stepchildren, Kimberly Mullis and Gary Custis; his sister, Jeannie Mae Lewis; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The family received friends at Union Baptist Church from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, with a memorial service starting at 11 o’clock.

Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, Gloucester, Va., was in charge of arrangements.
