Ronald Alan “Bud” Ward, 66, of Gwynn’s Island, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Norfolk General Hospital.
He was born on October 2, 1958. He was a left fielder for the 1970 Gwynn’s Island Beavers, as well, as a Mathews High School alumni Class of ’77, where he was nominated the most friendly, and he loved baseball and football. He was a lifetime fan of the Washington Redskins and San Francisco Giants. He attended Nashville Auto Diesel College where he studied body work. Bud was a forklift operator for Anheuser-Busch where he retired in 2013. He was very active in the Democratic party of Mathews. Bud was a history buff and loved to tell stories of old-time Gwynn’s Island.
He is survived by his three sons, Ryan Ward, Alan Ward, and Warner Ward; his granddaughter, Rylee Ward Foster; two step-children, Cory Carney and Russell Reed; a half-brother, John G. Drummond and his wife Andrea Drummond and a niece, Rebekah Judy Drummond.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10-11 a.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 o’clock in the funeral home chapel.
