Rockfish Tournament

The Mathews Rotary Club held its annual Rockfish Tournament this past weekend. Seven boats braved the wind and cold weather to compete for a total of $4,000 in prize money. The boat Wendy Daze came in first with a 6.9 lbs., 23.75 inch rockfish. Anglers were Ron Lambert, Karl Braun, John Sieg, Willie Hubbard and Danny Webster. Second place went to the Gracie May with anglers David, Jason and Scott Rickman who caught a 4.35 lbs., 19 inch rockfish. Sponsors for the tournament were Chesapeake Bank, Breezeline, Josie Thorpe, Swords Marine, Davenport, Karen Pittman Fine Arts, Bing’s Construction, Haskins Ramos, Tim Hill, Jack White, Karl Braun and Ron Lambert. As with all Mathews Rotary fundraisers, proceeds from the event will go to support many local causes. Above from left is the first-place crew of John Sieg, Karl Braun, Ron Lambert and Willie Hubbard.
