Robert Steel Burton of Church View, Virginia, passed away on February 9, 2024. He was the husband of Joan Britton Burton. Mr. Burton was a member, deacon, and very motivated in missionary work at Hermitage Baptist Church. His love for helping people fed his true character. He served his country for 10 years in the United States Navy. Robert worked for Chesapeake Paper Mill as an electrician and retired after 42 years.

Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Willie Burton, and the mother of his children and wife of 43 years, Alice Rose Burton.
In addition to his wife, Joan, he is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Burton Bahr and Rebecca Burton Bythewood; stepdaughters, Lori Britton Detwiler and Sheila Britton McClellan; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

In his spare time, Robert loved fishing, painting, watching deer, squirrels and birds, visiting lighthouses, and traveling in the RV.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on February 17, 2024 at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home, with Pastor Ronnie Russell conducting. Interment will follow at Middlesex Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name be submitted to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.
