Robert Nelson Roane, 72, of Gloucester, Va., died peacefully on July 23, 2014 at Envoy of Williamsburg Care Center.

Robert was born on Oct. 16, 1941 to the late Rob Roy and Lorraine Roane of Bohannon.

He is survived by his brothers, Carl Roane and David Roane, and sister, Beverly Oliver; a host of nieces and nephews, along with his loyal friends and neighbors, Jeremiah and Brandi Brown. He is also survived by his loyal and faithful dog, Doby.

Robert was a graduate of Mathews High School and went on to graduate from Richmond Professional Institute where he majored in Theater, Fine Arts and Interior Design. He also received a Master of Art Degree from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education.

He worked as an interior designer and consultant for many prominent businesses in North Carolina and Richmond, Va.

He was very active in various church ministries.

A memorial service will take place at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 76 North River Road, Bohannon, Va., Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at 2 p.m.
