Robert Meredith Mallory, 75, was born in Louisa County, Va., on Dec. 9, 1936, he passed away on Aug. 4, 2012.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1999 after 42 years’ service; his last position being that of Postmaster of Port Haywood, Va., in Mathews County. He was a member of Oriental Lodge #20 AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, ACCA Temple, Legion of Honor, Tidewater Shrine Club, Glen Allen Shrine Club, and the Royal Order of Jesters.
He is survived by his loving family which includes his wife, Patricia Caples Mallory; two sisters, Frances Messer of Richmond, and Joan Carreon of California; his devoted brother-in-law and sister-in-law, H.B. and Bonnie Caples; and his many nieces and nephews whom he treasured. Also surviving him are two special people in his life he considered his adopted “grandchildren,” Rachel and Daniel Mitchem of Mathews; and many dear friends in Mathews and Richmond.
Visitation was from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Aug. 6 at the West Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen, Va., and funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Discovery United Methodist Church. Interment will be private.
