Robert M. “Bob” Haynes, 88, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on Sept. 17, 1933. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Engineering with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1954. Bob served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1964 as a Lt. JG. He was employed at Whiting Turner Contracting Company in Baltimore for 17 years. He then owned and operated R.M. Contracting Company and retired in 1997. Bob was a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and the Mathews Visitor Center. His hobbies were fishing, boating, watercolor painting in which he won several award, and woodworking.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Jayne Louis Rosenberger Haynes.
He is survived by his children, Robin Haynes Fought (Michael) of Ocean Pines, Md., Diane Haynes Davis (Alan) of Ashburn, Va., and Kathleen Haynes Ramirez (Felix) of Elkton, Md.; grandchildren, Katherine Fought Ennis (James), Stephen Fought (Jennifer), Christopher Fought (Allyson), Sarah Ramirez Paulli (Ian), Kyle Davis (Dara), Rachel Ramirez Schmied (Kyle), Andrew Davis, and Nicolas Ramirez; great-grandchildren, Alexander Ennis, Lincoln Fought, Wyatt Davis, and Mia Schmied, and a sister, Dorothy Linn Sippel of Glen Arm, Md.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia, with burial to follow in H.C. Smither Memorial Cemetery.
