Robert Kelly, director of the Gloucester Museum of History, was presented a community award from the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast for his support of the local Girl Scouts.
“It is an honor and a surprise. They are a joy to work with and they are a great help spreading the museum’s message into the community,” said Kelly.
Kelly has conducted partner projects with the local Girl Scouts such as the exhibit on Camp Burkes Mill Pond. Along with helping inspire the exhibit, the Girl Scouts have volunteered during the living history weekends, helped with the Daffodil Festival, the Christmas parade and assisted with visitor services such as passing out drinks and snacks to guests at the museum.The Girl Scouts served as ambassadors for the museum through their service.
“I enjoy working with them because I think that it is important that the younger generation is involved with their local museum, “ Kelly said.
